Under My Skin Gewürztraminer
Ancient Gewürztraminer vines lie planted in decomposed granite amongst equally old Muscat de Alexandrie. The pink glaze of Gewürztraminer is an easy giveaway to the vineyard team who cherry-pick these grapes by hand and carefully sends them off to the art gallery.
Naturally fermented on its aromatic skins in an old, open barrel till dry, the wine spent 9 months gestating in another seasoned cask. 18% are whole bunch fermented and gentle basket pressing sips out the purest juice crafted from skin fermentation. Gewürtztraminer gracefully delivers as Cole Porter wrote and Frank Sinatra sang, “I’ve got you under my skin...”
Total production: 258 Bottles
Subtle trademark dried rose petal potpourri aromatics. The palate entry is vivaciously bright and succulent despite being thrillingly dry and refined. Texture is indicative of its time on skins which adds palate weight and mouthfeel to the lively citrus marmalade and delicate hint of Turkish Delight flavour. Beautifully cohesive and dry with the gentlest brush of oak from its time in barrel, it has a long, rewarding finish.
Food pairing: The Gewurtztraminer coasted acidity and textured palate will make a great accompaniment to Thai red curry seafood dishes or Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Lababdar curries.
